About Hope

Past & Present

I am a cake decorator in Ohio. I divide my time between Riverside, Huber Heights, Cleveland, Parma, and University Heights these days, but any city along I-71 between Dayton and Cleveland is convenient for me. I started decorating cakes in the fifth grade for my mother's co-workers on their birthdays. At first I didn't take it seriously; I decorated cakes just like many people doodle. It was just a little hobby of mine, and it had never occurred to me that it could ever become something more until I was in the ninth grade.

I had begun entering competitions at the end of middle school, but I felt greatly discouraged in my cake decorating after a bad judging experience in my first year competing. I didn't completely stop, however; family members still encouraged me to put more effort into my baking and compete again.

When I was judged again the next year, this time with a different judge, she seemed very impressed by my skills and pointed out something I had never noticed about my cakes: each cake has a story. Every cake has a message along with it. Be it outdoors themed for a dog's birthday or stair-stepped for a wedding, cakes are more than just pretty centerpieces that happen to be edible. They are just as much art as painting. That day was the day I knew I wanted to start what later became Hope's Cakes.

So, here it is. One of my dreams is actually coming true, and I'm glad you can be a part of it! Thank you for visiting. Click here to contact me!
